Server Installation

Installation of AutomationDock server version is the same as the desktop installation, however, additional VNC-like software is required to run AutomationDock in the unassisted mode:

  1. Create and install Windows server (supported OS is Windows Server 2016+)
  2. Create a user account under which AD will run
  3. Install AutomationDock on the server
  4. Install Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft Excel 2013 or later
  5. Install VNC-like software to connect to the Server desktop from another computer

VNC-like applications are used for graphical desktop connectivity and remote server control. There are many free (Tight VNC, Ultra VNC) and commercial solutions (TeamViewer, Bomgar, Dame Ware) to chose from.

RDP protocol should not be used to start or run AutomationDock as logging out or disconnecting from RDP will lock the server and pause any AutomationDock processes.

It is highly recommended to run AutomationDock server in a private data centre or in MS Azure environment.
