AutomationDock is a Microsoft Excel add-in that delivers powerful automation capability directly from the popular and widely used Excel application.
System requirements
- Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft Excel 2013 or later
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.61 or later
- Windows 8.1 or later
Installation
See document AD_Technical_User_Guide.pdf in the installation zip folder for installation instructions. To enable AutomationDock in Excel:
- Open any Excel workbook
- Select the “AutomationDock” tab in the main menu and click the “Enable automation” button
Note that when using the concurrent-user license type, AutomationDock can be enabled only if the maximum concurrent amount is not currently reached
- Click the “Trial license” button to activate the free 14-day demo license or to activate the full license, enter the license key and click the “Activate key” button
- Accept the terms and conditions to finalize the setup. This action will activate the AutomationDock menu and create a new Automation worksheet for building automation processes
Note that AutomationDock can be activated in any Excel workbook, but it can be active in only one workbook concurrently. The version of AutomationDock (in this example 2.6.2.1) can be found in the Setup window title
Quick Start to automation
Follow the below steps to get quickly started with automation and AutomationDock application. Tutorial and other resources can be found at AutomatinDock - Tutorials
- Install AutomationDock
- Open an Excel workbook
- Follow tutorial “Lesson 1 – Setup AutomationDock” to setup AutomationDock for process automation. This tutorial includes:
- Activation of the application using the free-trial option
- (Optional) Setup Tesseract OCR and the Backup database
- Follow tutorial “Lesson 2 – Hello world – your first bot” to create your 1st basic process. This tutorial includes functions “Action recorder” and “Action parameters” to build the 'Hello World' process using action types “Window select”, “Object select”, “Text enter” and “Mouse click”
- Save the workbook
- (Optional) Backup your process in the AutomationDock database
